When you’re wildly in love with someone, it changes everything. On Sunday, November 18th, starting at 10:30AM, we’ll spend part of our day serving others — inspired by the kind of love God gives us. After serving, we’ll come back to the church to share a Thanksgiving meal with community members at 12:00.
Francis Chan, in his book God’s Crazy Love writes: “Have you ever wondered if we’re missing it? It’s crazy if you think about it. The God of the universe — the Creator of nitrogen and pine needles, galaxies and e-minor — loves us with a radical, unconditional, self-sacrificing love. And what is our typical response? We go to church, sing songs, and try not to cuss.”
Does something deep inside your heart long to break free from the status quo? Are you hungry for an authentic faith that addresses the problems of our world with tangible, even radical solutions?
God is calling you to a passionate love relationship with Himself. Because the answer to religious complacency isn’t working harder at a list of do’s and don’ts — it’s falling in love with God. And once you encounter His love, as Francis describes it, you will never be the same. So, sign up to participate and invite your friends to help out in an act of gracious, God-filled and inspired service to others.
We’ll do things like deliver flowers and meals to people who have difficulty in getting out to visit with folks; rake leaves or shovel snow for our neighbors around the church; hand out cold-weather care kits and glad tidings to our homeless brothers and sisters; send letters of gratitude to social service workers in our community; or offer coffee and donuts to strangers walking down the street.
Come see the church living as God intended the church to live and experience the Spirit working as the Spirit always is.
