PRACTICING faith

Jesus asked a sobering question:  “When the Son of Man comes, will He find faith on the earth?” (Luke 18:8).

The challenge facing each of us as Christians is, how do we build real faith?  We believe it’s the disciplines of:  prayer, Bible study, and listening that help to sustain and nurture authentic faith.  The more you practice these things, the bigger difference they’ll make in your life and the work of deepening your faith in God.

Small Groups:  We spend a lot of time listening to God and to one another.  The first thing creation did was listen to God’s ordering of and forming the world. The first thing any of Jesus’ disciples did was listen to Jesus’ call to drop their nets and follow him.

Small groups are regular gatherings with 6-8 others who desire to develop friendships and grow closer to God. They are intended for listening to one another, hanging out, having fun, asking questions, learning next steps about faith and for serving alongside others to make a lasting impact in our communities.

Faith Basics:  "Faith Basics" is a program for youth (11-18 years) and young adults.  If there’s interest, a group of young people will journey together for several weeks toward the possibility of baptism.  With Pastor Alex, they will explore what it means to be a Disciple, that is, what it means for each of them to follow Christ.  Jesus never tried to recruit people by offering them an easy way.  Following Jesus is an invitation to look deeply within yourself because Jesus' call to follow him – is a radical call.

If you are interested in the program on behalf of yourself or as a mentor, please contact Pastor Alex McCauslin at the church office.

Bible Study:  The Bible is our definitive source for the answers to our questions about God. Studying scriptures can give us an understanding of God's character and attributes.  We study to know Jesus and what's involved with preparing ourselves for "disciple-making," ministry, and service.  One of the most fascinating things about the Bible is the big picture it paints of God's plans for Creation.  Amazingly — there's something powerfully unique about wrestling with a scripture among a small gathering of friends.  Theology taught in the pulpit gets fleshed out in conversation and action.

The Bible Study group meets on Tuesdays (2:00 p.m.) at the church.
